My turn :) . In drouting, the data is stored in memory as a
decimal tree, so only digits are allowed. It is a constraint
coming from how the search tree is structured.<br>

AFAIK E164 is without '+' (which is actually a
breakout code, not part of the number itself).<br>

And when you say the numbers are stored in DB - which
