To pass between public/private you will need to use rtpproxy module.
Default config is already sip proxy, and ready to customize.
Asterisk itself do much much easier as private/public “SBC”.
What exactly scenario you try to achieve?

The idea is "sip users(public ip)-------> opensips (public and private ip)---------->asterisks (private ip)"
