[OpenSIPS-Users] formatting URI

Is there a way to format the URI values eg.
if the referrence to user

$tU = +0140932031

and i only want to get +01

if ($tU == "+01")
{
         Some Action
};

is there a way to get this output, by saving it in another variable or
formatting it in some way ?
