Since there's no way for the 2 phones under the same LAN but different
sub-LANs to send media directly between themselves, you'll have to be
able to distinguish this situation between the one where the 2 phones
are directly under the same LAN (with no further sub-NATs between them),
where direct media is possible. 

Setting up a LANSite is a good idea but only possible if you always know
exactly how the phones' networks will be set up, and won't work if the
user takes the phone to some random place that you have no knowledge of.
So depending on your situation, you probably can get it to work if you
always know where the phones will be. Unfortunately not suitable for my
situation :(
