Did you find how to solve this problem ?
I didn't mention that I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 on an virtualized environnement (Virtual Box).

Some time ago I tryed to install OpenXCAP in Debian Etch (Lenny is
required however). I got it installed but when run
"/etc/init.d/openxcap start" I got your same situation: The init
script returns 0 (OK) but the service doesn't run.
