Hi Jan,

More or less, the response is no.

There are mechanism to detect the parsing error (see error_route - 
http://www.opensips.org/Resources/DocsCoreRoutes15#toc5), but to send a 
reply (like the 400), you need the VIA header.
In other words, the messages is so FUBAR, so you cannot even build a 
reply for it - VIA is one of the critical headers used in routing back 
replies.
