^-- this does not list via.received, but it does list via.param,received

The latter one does not work, the first one does. (With 1.7.x.)

Further, the examples above:
  $var(upstreamtransport) = $(hdr(Via)[1]){via.transport}{s.tolower});
  $var(upstreamip) = $(hdr(Via)[1]){via.param,received});
  $var(clientport) = $(hdr(Via)[-1]){via.param,rport});
include a parenthesis too many (between ] and { ).
